Bureau management doesn't have a clue how much we need this guy. Tony made a huge difference and had a vision of the future. He left the Bureau for a job at the same level, that says it all. Such a waste of talent. If John Pecman our commissioner really believes the criminal program important they should get him back before Tony retires! Just look at our pathetic record we desperately need the unique skills he has. We keep searching outside the Bureau for answers when the solution is staring us in the face! #hopeless@bureau
Respected by Crown prosecutors, defense counsel and colleagues. He is innovative, smart and tough and very driven to getting quality work done with high standards. The Competition Bureau would do well to model all of its criminal cases on the way he builds his.
Tony is a hard habit to break - I loved working with him and learned so much about investigating and how to be professional in tough situations. One of the smartest and hardest working people you'll met, and one of the kindest and fun loving. His Intel development was groundbreaking. Miss him :(
I never laughed so hard as when I worked with Tony, all the while doing some of the most productive case work I've done! What a great skill he has. Very sad when he left the Bureau - I know he loved the work. He was my mentor and fave investigator!
I was lucky to work a couple of cases with Tony. One of the nicest guys you'll meet, unless you've broken the law - then watch out! The Comp Bureau does some complex and big antitrust cases and Tony is one of the best they've got, from start to finish!
Tony was a student of some of the best investigators at the Bureau: George Bennett, David Gilkes, Jim Innes, Martin Crossman to name a few. Investigators of Tony's background and quality don't come around too often. A real pro and decent fellow.
Tony's no longer at the Competition Bureau, he moved to the Integrity and Oversight Branch at Public Works. His talents will be greatly missed here! As others have said he's a class act.
As others have said, he really knows what's required to successfully run a complex investigation, a rare commodity at the Bureau these days. Tough, smart, experienced and trustworthy he ranks at the top.
Anthony's a bid-rigging/fraud expert - I learned so much from him! If we did every case his way we wouldn't need to rely on our immunity program and guilty pleas as our only source for cases. One of the few people that really knows how to "investigate" and build a case, without needing the guilty to first come in and confess. Our program took a big hit when he left. As a leader, Tony always said "I've got your 6" - and he always did.
Extrêmement professionnel avec beaucoup d'expérience. Travaille avec des normes et une intégrité élevées. Sa seule faiblesse est qu'il doit travailler sur sa langue française!
I worked with Tony for 4 years. He is professional, disciplined and has a robust understanding and respect for the law and criminal investigation process. If Tony says there is a case, you can bet on it. Very effective at getting difficult cases and projects to completion and builds files with foresight to withstand any future battles and challenges. One of the best investigators I've ever worked with.
OMG he left?? Why??? Tony loved the Bureau so much, always said he would work there for free. 25 years experience out the door! He was awesome.
Didnt work with him directly, but we all use the tools/methods he developed: statement taking, court briefs, note taking, intel-led investigations. Heck he even designed our badges! Cant believe he's gone.
- Hard worker
- leads by example
- smart investigator
He's no longer at the Bureau. A big loss - he developed our intelligence-led solution to doing big antitrust cases faster and more accurately than we've ever done before. Great guy to work for, excellent leader, tons of crim experience.
Worked for me for many years in criminal matters branch. A real pro investigator who always preferred tough, complex cases over ones coming in under our immunity program. Highly respected by CB management, colleagues, Crown prosecutors and defense counsel. Understands the importance of saper vedere in investigations. I had always hoped CB could adopt his approach to investigating more broadly. Balanced serious work with good sense of humour. Solid.
Possibly the best kept secret at the Competition Bureau, Tony is an outstanding lead criminal antitrust investigator, considered by many who know him to be the best there is. He is the oracle for the right information and advice, conducting credible investigations with integrity, high standards and respect for the criminal process. Tony is the first officer those in-the-know want to work with, and the last person criminals under the Competition Act want to see on their case!
